William Wilberforce Trust to hand over ministries at World's End to St John Church

William Wilberforce Trust is excited to announce a new and strategic agreement with St John’s Church, the local Anglican Church on the Worlds End estate.  As of 31st January 2012, St. John’s will assume responsibility for some of the activities of the Trust, while others will cease to operate.

The William Wilberforce Trust (previously known as The Regeneration Trust) have been present on the Worlds End Estate for over 15 years.  At various times, the Trust have provided programs for and with residents of the estate including youth activities, children’s homework clubs, sports clubs, community lunches, keep fit, English classes, IT classes, debt advice, a computer drop-in centre and more.  During the spring, St. John’s team will take over running a number of these activities.

St John’s Church was built with the estate, and is part of the parish of St John’s with St Andrew’s.  St John’s vision is to be a community of people living in and serving the local area, with a special focus on welcoming everyone. Andy Mason heads the leadership team of the church and has been working here for the past six years. St John’s has increasingly partnered with The Trust, and both organizations believe that St John’s Church is now best placed on the estate to do the kind of outreach the Trust has been engaged in. We hope that this will strengthen the role of the local church and it’s outreach to the Worlds End, and in the long term serve the community better.
